Saint Teresa of Avila
Teresa of Avila is how we know her. However, her given name was Teresa Ali Fatima Corella Sanchez de Capeda y Ahumada.
Saint Teresa was born on March 28, 1515, in Avila, Spain, and died at the age of 67 on Oct. 4, 1582. She was named a saint of the Catholic Church on March 12, 1622.
In 1970, Saint Teresa was declared a Doctor of the Church for her writing and teaching on prayer. Her Feast Day is celebrated on October 15. Teresa became a Carmelite nun who found life in the cloister quite lax and set about efforts to renew the spiritual and monastic life. The Interior Castle was written by Teresa of Avila in 1577 as a guide for spiritual development through service and prayer.

World Mission Sunday, October 18, 2026 - Second Collection
This year is particularly special: It is the 100th Anniversary of Pope Pius XI's creation of World Mission Sunday to help Catholics across the globe to unite in prayer for the missions, to better understand the greatness of the missionary task, foster greater missionary zeal, and encourage offerings for the missions.
This year's celebration is also particularly special for us in the United States, because it comes less than a month after the beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen on September 24. Archbishop Sheen is famous for his preaching, television and radio ministry and extensive writings. Archbishop Sheen regularly repeated, "My greatest love has always been the missions of the Church."
The Second Collection on World Mission Sunday extends the Church's missionary work to places where the Church barely exists, where the Gospel has never been heard before, and where the Church is too young, too persecuted, or too poor to sustain herself.

The 2026 40 Days for Life Fall campaign will run through November 1. This is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful, prayerful presence in front of abortion businesses.
We especially need people on Mondays between the hours of 11am - 4pm but other times are helpful as well.
Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima
Our Lady visited three children in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, and spoke to them of the importance of praying the Rosary. Bring our parish's beautiful statue home and let our Blessed Mother lead your family closer to her Son, Jesus, through praying and meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.
To sign-up, please call the Parish Office at 845-986-4028.
